What makes a great book a remarkable piece of literature ? Well it depends on who wrote it, the theme, characters, emotions and perspectives and other relevant factors.
If you’re sort of a book nerd like I am, then you know how fan fiction is going in hard on those they stan. I personally fell off the book reading wagon and I constantly felt guilty.
Now with nothing but time on my hands, these are the 10 books I’ll be diving into. Some of these books may be literature classics and some are here because according to Pinterest, I have to read this before I become 30.
1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, by J.K. Rowling.
Honestly, this is one of my favourite Harry Potter books. One of many that I read within one day in awe.
It’s 2020 and I’m going to bet my last GH¢3.00 that you have heard something about Harry Potter. Watched the movies? Now is a great time to also give the books a chance.

2. The Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien
This book is full of detailed fantasies of heroes and evil. Head towards the quest with Froddo Baggins as he makes it past difficult circumstances and trials.
3. Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen
This novel is extremely famous. From school plays to movies, it’s pretty hard to not know about this book by the wonderful Jane Austen.
4. Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott
I am very excited to read this particular book since I saw snippets of the movie remake which cast Emma Watson. Four sisters, come of age in New England and each experiences their own kind of struggles .
5.The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis
Imaginations run wild as siblings move through an enchanted wardrobe and a difficult life. Like the Lord Of The Rings, this book has wonderful creatures and characters.
6. The Color Purple, by Alice Walker
Interested in the past of colored women in the USA? Dive into this book which exposes the harsh and oftentimes unbelievable reality of these women.
The movie adaptation starred Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey.
7. Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley
Mary Shelley wrote this classic when she was just eighteen. At eighteen, a drunk woman vomited on my foot in the market but I digress.
In this book, one question stands out. How far is science willing to go?
8. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain
I only read this book because I was bored. Now lemme tell you something, I was definitely not bored by the time I was done with the first chapter.
Read it to experience how friendships are affected by the environment.
9.To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee
This book was published only 3 years after Ghana had gained her Independence and I was not even a taught in my parent’s tween mind.
This timeless classic explores many features like prejudice, hatred, hypocrisy, love and innocence.

10. Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury
Imagine a world where books are forbidden and I will not be able to provide you with recommendations.
Guy Montag, the main character in this book has the hot job off burning any and all books he sees.
