An STC bus run into a herd of cattle crossing the main road at Agbakofe in the South Tongu District.
The passengers (a total of 18) narrowly escaped death on Tuesday evening on the Aflao-Accra highway after the driver was reported to have run into the cattle at around 6:30pm at Agbakope after negotiating a curve.
According to statements made by Police Inspector Evanz Attitsogbui Grunitzky, South Tongu District Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) Commander, the herdsman refused to use the appropriate animal crossing which was located just 200 meters from where the incident happened.
He also said,the herdsmen who refused to use the animal crossing, were not wearing any reflective clothing and as such the driver did not receive any warning sign.
The driver and passengers who unfortunately sustained various degrees of injuries had been taken to the Sogakofe District Hospital.
The bus was also towed away from the scene to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Sogakofe.
