18-year old, Abubakar Sidick pleaded guilty to the crime of robbing a man and would spend the next 15 years at the Nsawam prisons.
His alleged accomplice, Ibrahim Sunde, 20, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. The charges included conspiracy to rob. Ibrahimhas been remanded into prison custody to reappear in court on Thursday October 10, 2019.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Irene Oppong, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service said, the robbery happened on Monday September 23, 2019 at dawn. On that day, Sidick and Sunde who were armed with knives, went to Abubakar Omaro’s house at Gomoa Kwabena-andoh. While he was asleep they broke into his room and threatened to kill him. They succeded in robbing Omaro of GH¢1200.00. Both Sidick and Sunde were arrested after the case was reported.
They were charged with conspiracy to rob and robbery when they were arraigned before the Kasoa Ofankor Circuit Court on Thursday September 26.
Sidick pleaded guilty and was convicted while his alleged accomplice Sunde pleaded not guilty and was remanded.
