Most often we have doubts in the relationships we found ourselves in especially in the early stages.
But if yours begin to look more like a burden rather than a peaceful one then you’ve got to be very careful because there is a high probability it won’t go as you wish for.
In fact, there can be several warning signals along the way, telling you that it won’t work out. Here are 8 signs that you are dating the wrong person.
- You are unhappy
Your relationship should bring you joy, not pain. You should enjoy spending time with them, instead of dreading it. If you find yourself unhappy most of the time, especially when you are with them -then this may be a sign that this isn’t the best person for you. It’s time to walk away and find out who or what makes you happy. After all, it is better to be happy alone than be miserable with someone else.
- They don’t really listen to you
They talk on and on, never letting you get a word in the conversations. They never care about what you think. This is actually a sign of disrespect if they don’t think your opinions matter. If your partner never seems to listen, you might want to find someone not so selfish to share your life with.
- They exhaust you
If spending time with your partner drains you, you might be dating the wrong person. Instead of feeling energized after hanging out with your partner, you feel emotionally drained and tired most of the time. The person you choose to spend your life with should lift you up rather than drag you down. It may be time for you to walk away from him/her.
- Your relationship is all you have in common
Opposites attract but in order to have a fun, lasting relationship. If you have no common interests, it may be because you two are incompatible with each other. It can also make your partner seem dull and boring. A relationship will be much more difficult with someone you aren’t compatible with.
- You can’t see a future together
If you tend to avoid having any kind of ‘difficult’ conversation; your relationship is most probably heading nowhere. If you want to take your relationship on a more serious level you will have to talk about difficult or uncomfortable issues, especially when they involve you. Unless you can see a future together, your relationship is going nowhere. Commitment is vital in a healthy, long-lasting relationship.
- You can’t relax around them
Your partner should love you as you are. A relationship cannot grow if you feel like you are pretending to be someone you aren’t. If you are always watching what you say or how you act, because your partner tends to get on your case or has been critical of you in the past, he/she is the wrong person for. Love is all about complete acceptance. If you can’t be who you truly are with your significant other, it’s time to think about breaking things off. No one is worth this much sacrifice. In fact, you may be better off alone.
- Your friends and family haven’t met them
If your partner hasn’t met your family although you are going steady, it may be a sign that you are dating the wrong person. Another sign is that they are consistently avoiding hanging out or meeting your friends. This could be because he or she doesn’t think that the relationship is serious enough them to get involved with your personal life. Or maybe you are too embarrassed to introduce them to your friends and family. Either way it’s a sign: drop them, because it won’t last much longer.
- You don’t feel good about yourself
The time you spend with your partner should make you feel better about yourself, not worse. If you notice that you feel more doubtful or insecure with them, chances are they are actually toxic for your mental health. If your partner exacerbates your self-doubts and undermines your confidence, it’s time to stand up for yourself and walk out the door and find someone better.
