Kurt Okraku is the new GFA president

Today was the day the whole Ghana has been waiting for with regards to football in Ghana. After the Number 12 expose by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Kwesi Nyantakyi, former GFA president was found culpable and resigned from the position.

The candidates for the elections were CEO of Dreams FC, Kurt Okraku, former Vice president of the GFA, George Afriyie, Fred Pappoe, Amanda Clinton, Phar Rangers owner Nana Yaw Amponsah and George Mensah.

After the first round of voting, Kurt Okraku pulled 44 votes as George Afriyie had 40, Nana Yaw Amponsah had 27 as Fred Pappoe surprisingly had just 6 votes. Amanda Clinton and George Mensah had no votes.

Voting had to go to the second as a candidate has to have 50% of the votes plus one vote to be able to be declared a winner. After the second round, Kurt Okraku recorded 59 votes, George Afriyie had 43 votes with Nana Yaw Amponsah having 16 votes.

George Afriyie was really hopeful of winning the seat

Still with Kurt not being able to pull the 50%+1 vote to be the winner, the elections had to go to a third round but former vice president of the GFA, George Afriyie raised the white flag and conceded defeat hence making CEO of Dreams FC, Kurt Okraku the winner of the GFA presidential elections.

The 3rd round of elections still went ahead with Kurt Okraku being the only candidate and he had 93 votes.
