The former Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Bernard Allotey Jacobs has finally spoken up about the reasons behind his suspension from the NDC.
Weeks ago, Allotey Jacobs was suspended from his party the NDC over what the party described as his “consistent anti-party conduct.” His suspension was announced through a statement signed by the party’s National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. in an interview with JoyNews he said:
“I have my own independent mind and I will always stand for the truth and if the party dislikes it and for that reason, they are suspending me that’s beautiful.”
According to Mr Allotey, the peculiar behaviour of his party members started when he constantly refused to negatively critique the President, Akufo-Addo’s free Senior High School policy. in his statement, he also indicated that his party deemed his decision as a form of praise singing of the opposition and the President in particular.
After careful research into the policy, he discovered that his previous criticism of the policy was not valid. This was because, he realised many children benefited from the program. For the now non-partisan social commentator, criticizing the governments program which benefited many would be disastrous for the NDC when campaign time rolls up.
