The England Football Association has today stated new rules and date for the FA and EFL Cup campaigns next season.
Next season’s FA Cup competition is scheduled to begin on September 1 which is just a month after the 2020 final – with the final scheduled to take place at Wembley as usual on May 15, 2021.
“In order to assist in easing pressure on the football schedule, there will be no replays for the 2020-21 season,” the FA said in a statement
“The list of accepted clubs and round exemptions has also been released, while the early draws for the extra preliminary and preliminary rounds will be released on Tuesday 18 August.”
All FA Cup replays have been scrapped for the 2020-21 season, the Football Association has confirmed making it a one-time knockout competition.
On the other hand, the EFL Cup also known as The Carabao Cup will kick off with the first four rounds of the tournament to be played in September.
The first-round of fixtures will be played on September 5th but there is a high probability that they could be moved due to international fixtures.
Premier League sides will enter the Carabao Cup at either round two or three, depending on their 2019/20 league placing.
The EFL has also confirmed two-legged semi-finals will no longer be played in the competition, with one-off matches determining which teams reach the final.
