The new Premier League season will start on 12th September as fans will be eased back into stadiums with some games, while a full roll-out is scheduled for October.
Fans coming to watch games ‘will have to sign a code of conduct’ if they wish to return to stadiums amid the coronavirus pandemic with a clause of a potential ban if they sing or chant.
The new rule is put in place to reduce droplets from fans which has been identified as one of the main mode of transmission of the virus.
Socially distant seating and sanitiser stations will be provided for fans, who will be trusted to not attend if they have COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with someone who has.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson explained: “At every stage I have said our plan to reopen society and the economy is conditional.
Today we are able to announce some further changes which will allow more people to return to work and the public to get back to more of the things they have missed”
However, as I have always said, we will not hesitate to put on the brakes if required, or to continue to implement local measures to help to control the spread of the virus.”
Culture secretary Oliver Dowden chipped in with: “The nation’s hard work to keep the virus under control means we can now make further careful progress.
“We must all continue to Stay Alert but today’s welcome news means these organisations can finally get going safely, and we can enjoy more of the things we love as a nation.”
