A tweet from news outlet, Der Spiegel confirmed Schurrle’s decision to retire from football.

At 18 he made his debut in the Bundesliga, at 23 André Schürrle became a World Cup hero. Now, at just 29, he says goodbye to the business that made him rich but lonely. (€)

Schürrle who spent last season on loan in Russia with Spartak Moscow after previously being on loan at English Championship side Fulham was signed by Borussia Dortmund.

But after departing Dortmund, he has now told Der Spiegel that he will hang up his boots despite being just 29, having fallen out of love with the game.

Andre Schurrle would be reminded for his assist for the Mario Gotze goal that won Germany the World Cup in 2014 against Argentina.
