Asante Kotoko fan gravely shot and wounded by Police

A Kumasi Asante Kotoko can is rumored to be dead after being gravely wounded by a gunshot from a police officer following the Porcupine Warriors’ clash with the Berekum Chelsea side on Sunday, January 12, 2020.

According to videos and bystanders, the wounded man was wearing a Kotoko jersey and collapsed, hitting the floor after he had been shot.

The video making rounds shows the victim in a pool of blood with his injury gushing out blood. Concerned citizens took the victim to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Unfortunately some reports claim that the victim was pronounced dead on arrival.

Other bystanders narrated the shooting saying  the fan had been killed by the police. According to them, Kototko fans who did not agree with the decisions of referee Charles Bulu at the Baba Yara Stadium started rioting and throwing objects at the match officials.

It is also reported that some of the supporters tried to force a gate with access to the pitch open. They were unable to as security officials intervened.

Trying to control the crowd, police officers shot rubber bullets to ward off the would be assaulters of the referees.
