Ladies and gentlemen, there is a new scam in town and it is very much important to know all about it before you fall victim.
We all know of the mobile money fraud or scam as the most prominent in Ghana now but a new scam alert has surfaced with fraudsters or perpetrators starting from social media.
Scammers are now sending extortion messages in DMs (direct messages) stating that they have a tape of you via your laptop webcam and are threatening to release it if you do not send them a GHC 1,000.
One of the victims of the scam shared messages sent to her by the fraudsters bearing the name “Dark Web”.
Hey Abena, we’ve been watching you and we have some videos of you getting nudity on your computer. We have a split screen of you side by side with those nasty videos you’re checking out a day. We gonna release it to your friends and family unless you send us 1000ghc. Including Twitter

They further issued a warning to her to respond to the message in the next 6 hours else they will go ahead and share the videos.
I need your response in less than 6 hours before we act.
In any case you people start seeing my nudes and nasty videos in the next 6hours as it is stated here, know that this is how it started and call the number Incase I vanish into thin air.. pic.twitter.com/XeMM03oDJb

We are certain this message has been sent to other persons on Twitter and other social media platforms with victims scared and trying to pay them not to publish the videos.
Please know that this is a scam so spread the word and help your friends and families from falling victim to the threat.
