Since the detection of coronavirus in December 2019, a lot has been affected including the closure of businesses, schools and institutions being closed down, production companies reporting a huge decline in their sales and now to the sporting circles.
This strain of the disease originated in China with a widespread through other Asians countries and has found itself in Europe affecting not just major businesses but sports and football in particular.
Italy has recorded 7,375 cases of COVID-19 coronavirus with 366 people reported dead with some Serie A games getting postponed and others having to play in empty stadiums without fans. This past weekend saw the biggest match in Serie A this season played behind closed doors as Juventus beat Inter Milan 2 goals to nil to go top of the league.
Uefa today has confirmed that the Champions League game between Paris Saint Germain and Borussia Dortmund which will be played at the Parc de Princes in France will be played behind closed doors due to fears of coronavirus outspread.
The Premier League has also banned players from the pre-match handshakes due to the coronavirus spread and there are rumours that very soon some of the games will be played in empty stadiums.

With concerns being raised regarding a number of events outside China, it is likely that UEFA will be forced to assess things ahead of Euro 2020, which will be held across Europe in June and July.
Cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in the UK, Germany, Italy, Ireland and Spain – all of which are host countries for the tournament – among others.
