During the period of partial lockdown in the country, military personnel were tasked with maintaining order. It is being reported that a military officer shot another law enforcement officer.
The cause for the incident which happened during the early hours of Thursday is not yet known.
The soldier was reported to be on COVID-19 duty when he shot the female police officer. The shooting happened at Tema New Town in the Tema Metropolis of the Greater Accra region.
The policewoman, a lance corporal, is said to have sustained injuries on the lower part of her leg and was rushed to the Tema General Hospital, where she is responding to treatment.
The soldier has also been detained at the Tema Naval Base and investigations into the incident have commenced.
