FC Barcelona have confirmed the sacking of their Technical director of Football, Eric Abidal from the club.
Just a day after the La Liga club confirmed the sacking of coach Quique Setien, former player of the club has also followed.
His dismissal comes as part of a hierarchy shake-up after the Catalan’s 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinals on Friday.
A statement from the club read; “FC Barcelona and Éric Abidal have reached an agreement for the ending of the contract that united the two parties.
“The Club would publicly like to thank Éric Abidal for his professionalism, commitment, dedication and the close and positive nature of his relationship with all aspects of the blaugrana family.”
The former Barca and France international served in his role as the club’s technical director from June 2018 and his tenure now comes to an end.
