A 76-year-old woman living in Australia died after one of her cocks pecked her to death.
The bizarre incident was reported in the Forensic Science, Medicine and Pathology Journal.
The woman was collecting chicken eggs when a cockerel began pecking at her left leg. The case report indicated that, the woman had two tiny cuts on her leg. One unfortunately was over a large vein which caused her to bleed out severely and then collapse. She eventually passed away from her injuries.
It must be noted that dying from such an injury with all these factors is rare but possible. Take caution when dealing with small (farm) animals or pets.
