Ruth Ama Eshun, a Ghanaian nurse was reported dead on February 3, 2020. Ruth a mother of three was reportedly gang-raped and killed by unknown assailants. Ruth was a community health nurse stationed at the Sewua Health Centre.
According to reports, Ruth Eshun, was murdered at Ayuom in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.
The assemblyman of the area, Prince Adutwum, claims she was last seen by her colleague nurses leaving the health centre for her home at about 3 pm on Monday, February 3, 2020.
After failing to return home, her family and neighbors became alarmed. Her disappearance was reported to the police by her worried husband.
Ruth was discovered lifeless the following morning some meters from her home. The nature of her death caused many to believe that she may have been gang-raped and murdered by her assailants.
The Ashanti Regional Police office is yet to release a statement about the incident at the time this article was written. The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives’ Association while condemning the horrible murder of Ruth Eshun, called on the police to “investigate this matter with the urgency it deserves and bring the perpetrators to book.”
Despite it’s gruesome nature, the death of Ruth Eshun has barely made mainstream headlines in the media.
