At least 28 people have reportedly been burnt beyond recognition as reported by media outlets.
The accident happened on the Kintampo-Tamale highway which is notorious for accidents.
Information gathered from Twitter indicates that the driver of the Metro Mass Bus was reportedly at fault.
According to Twitter user and Star FM broadcaster @francis_abban, a survivor of the accident alleges that the driver fell asleep at the wheel and veered off his lane.
Update: survivor of Kintampo accident narrates that driver of vehicle that rammed into sprinter bus was sleeping behind the wheel and veered off its lane. Time to rethink protocols for night travel especially for commercial transport.

Other comments shed light on how bus companies no longer function with two drivers as they did some few years ago. Allegedly, the companies said they could not afford to pay the two drivers for the trip.
Hmmmm
They started going with 2 drivers during the night travels but all of a sudden they stopped saying they cant pay 2 drivers for one trip at the same time— Pst Fii (@FiiPst) March 9, 2020
This one is not even as scary as the VIP buses traveling long distances
At a point in time I have to shout or scream at the drivers mate to wake his driver up from kumasi to Accra— Pst Fii (@FiiPst) March 9, 2020
Another user of the share ride service UBER also described her experience below
I’ve been in an uber with a sleeping driver twice. It’s a very bitter feeling when you either spot them sleeping or hv to wait till you get to a safe area to get down and order another uber. Each time they doze off, the car swings to middle pavement and scratches it. https://t.co/9iVHXMUPSv
