KNUST SHS Headie interdicted following student death

The headmistress of the KNUST SHS has been asked to step aside by the Ghana Education Service after the death of a final year student in the school.

Earlier today, the school authorities were accused of not attending to a student, Richard Leonard Sam who complained of a stomach upset during the day and later died.

According to the students, out of fear that the boy was suspected to have contracted Covid-19, he was left unattended, and in the care of his colleagues for nearly three hours.

A press statement dated July 8, 2020, issued by the Head of Public Relations Unit at the GES, Cassandra Twum Ampofo said the headmistress of the KNUST SHS, Felicia Asamoah Dankwaa has been asked to step aside for the Ashanti Regional Director of Education to take over the administration of the school while the management of the GES investigates the circumstances that led to the death of the final year student of the school on Tuesday, July 7, 2020.
