KwakuBS has announced his split from music group La Meme Gang. His split comes during a suspicious time as two members of the group- RJZ & Darkovibes are facing allegations of rape.
According to KwakuBS, he did enjoy the experience and opportunities he had with the group but feels this is the time to leave due to “irreconcilable differences”.
Owing to irreconcilable differences between myself and the management, as well as the membership of the collective [La Meme Gang], I have chosen to leave.
His fans and those of La Meme Gang have speculated that he is leaving mainly due to the rape allegations. In his statement, he also said,
“We are all experiencing a shift in light of the current social climate. Things are changing and we cannot afford to silent and stick to old patterns and systems, no matter how comfortable,”
He went on to acknowledge the women who step forward with accusations and urged other women to stand up against any form of injustice.
I acknowledge all the allegations and actions put forth against two of my former collective, La Meme. I wish to say, neither their actions nor beliefs align with and represent that of mine.”
“To all the brave and strong women who have acknowledged and recognised their power, I see you and I am in awe of your strength. This is not a time to be silent about any form of injustice, especially ones committed against black women,” it added.
RJZ & DARKOVIBES ACCUSED OF RAPE
An anonymous twitter account claimed RJZ had raped her friend and produced documents that showed a police statement had been made.
Another accusation (also under anonymity) against Darkovibes claimed that he attempted to rape her. She alleged that the incident happened when they were both in high school.
