The University of Ghana is once again in the news for all the wrong reasons.
Reports from residents of the Alexander Kwapong Hall of the University of Ghana indicate that, another male resident of the hall allegedly tried to rape a girl while she was asleep.
Around 2 am this morning, the alleged rapist entered the room of the victim. Sources of news outlet KuulPeeps claim the lady was able to get hold of a knife in an attempt to defend herself when she realised that someone was trying to rape her.
According to the reports, the suspected rapist had also locked the door once he was inside. The locked door prevented rescuers from entering through the door. They then had to improvise and use the balcony to get access to her room.
Male residents who had access to the room tried to beat him but reports indicate he was rescued by the porters.
Tweets on the issue also say the alleged rapist is a student pastor on campus.
According to various Snapchat videos, the girl’s scream for help gathered a large crowd of students who tried to help.

In the videos, the alleged rapist is manhandled slightly by the students before he is deposited to the Hall Assistants Lodge aka Porters’ Lodge of the hall where he was later picked up by the police.
