MatchDay 6 in the Premier League is upon us. Matches begin today (20th Sept.) at St. Mary’s Stadium where Southampton host AFC Bournemouth with Hassenhuttl’s side in search of their 3rd win of this new season.
On Saturday, the early kick-off will be between Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City. Leicester will be taking on back-in-form Tottenham Hotspurs at the King Power Stadium. Both teams have the same record as both have won two games, drawn two and lost one with Spurs having the upper hand on the table with a goal difference.
Manchester City having lost defenders Alymeric Laporte and John Stones to long term injuries will welcome London side Watford who are still seeking for their first win of the season. The defender crisis at Etihad and their win against Arsenal will be a boost for them ahead of their clash with the reigning champions.
West Ham United are unbeaten since the opening weekend and host a Manchester United side which is only below on goal difference. West Ham are without Arthur Masuaku, who is suspended after his red card at Aston Villa on Monday night.
Man Utd have scored more Premier League goals against West Ham than any other side has in the competition (94) and have only lost twice in their last 21 PL meetings with them (W14 D5).
The big game of the weekend will be at Stamford Bridge where free scoring and 100% win record Liverpool visit Frank’s new young army Chelsea. The two sides met and recently played out a 2-2 draw in the UEFA Super Cup where Jurgen Klopp’s side came on top after penalties.
Chelsea’s Mason Mount, Toni Rudiger, N’Golo Kante and Emerson are all rated “doubtful” for Sunday’s clash.
Naby Keita returned to training with Liverpool on Friday after sustaining a hip injury last month, while Alisson Becker and Divock Origi are making “positive progress” from their respective calf and ankle injuries, says Jurgen Klopp.
Chelsea have beaten the side starting the day top of the Premier League on 18 occasions, three more than any other side, but the Blues have won only one of their last nine meetings with Liverpool (D5 L3).
Liverpool have lost only once in their last 44 Premier League matches (W36 D7) and are unbeaten in their last 22 (W18 D4).
