After proposing to girlfriend,American man drowns underwater in Tanzania.
Steven Weber drowned after proposing to his girlfriend (Kenesha Antoine) underwater while the couple vacationed in Tanzania.
The couple were staying in a wooden cabin with a bedroom submerged beneath the ocean surface on Pemba Island.
Weber proposed by swimming underwater before holding a handwritten note against their bedroom windows, according to the video posted on Friday by Kenesha on Facebook, before presenting the ring.
Weber placed the note in a transparent plastic bag. The note read: “I can’t hold my breath long enough to tell you everything I love about you. BUT…Everything I love about you I love more EVERY DAY!
“Will you please be my WIFE,Marry me???”
Unfortunately, Weber failed to return to the surface.
Antoine said in a subsequent Facebook post. “You never emerged from those depths, so you never got to hear my answer, ‘Yes! Yes! A million times, yes, I will marry you!!’ ” she wrote. -CNN
The Manta Resort, where the couple was staying, issued a statement on Saturday which confirmed the death.
“Our sincerest condolences, thoughts and prayers are with his girlfriend, families and friends impacted by this tragic accident,” – Matthew Saus, The Manta CEO.
Tanzanian authorities are investigating the tragedy.
