SEX FOR GRADES

Woman shares story of how current University of Ghana Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro-Owusu harassed her sexually. 

Andrea Pizziconi, the CEO of Africa Integras has said that in her dealings in Ghana and with the University, the current VC, Prof. Oduro Owusu made life really difficult for her.

She made these claims in a series of  posts on social media. Andrea alleges that the Vice-Chancellor refused to work with her to save the Africa Integras project on campus on the fickle basis that she was “far too pretty to worry [his] little head about”.

Meanwhile, a veteran lecturer in media studies and founder of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Professor Kwame Karikari has found fault with the BBC’s “Sex for Grades” documentary, describing it as not a journalistic piece of work.

According to him,  the methods used by the BBC in producing the documentary are problematic.

 

DR. OBENGFO SET FREE, AGAIN.

CEO of the Advanced Body Sculpt Centre also known as Obengfo Hospital, Dr Dominic Obeng-Andoh aka Dr Obengfo, has  been set free by the Accra Circuit Court for the second time.

“Dr. Obengfo” was standing trial on the charges of practising medicine without a licence and operating an unlicensed medical facility.

Dr Obeng-Andoh is also before the Adjabeng District Court for the alleged murder of Ms Stacy Offei Darko, a Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship Innovation Plan (NEIP).

Ms Darko died while on admission at the Obengfo Hospital on May 21, 2018, after undergoing surgery allegedly performed by Dr Obeng-Andoh.

 

CRIME

1. Unemployed man fined ¢6000 for stealing a car engine

A Tarkwa Circuit Court has fined Michael Acheampong, unemployed, GH¢6,000 for stealing a Nissan Pick-up engine.

Acheampong would serve 36 months in prison with hard labour if he fails to pay the fine.

The complainant, a mechanic and resident at Ahwetieso owns an automobile maintenance shop at Wassa Agona on the Tarkwa-Takoradi Highway.

In August this year, a client of the complainant brought his Nissan Pick-up vehicle for routine maintenance.

The complainant could not complete work on the engine and therefore deferred to continue the next day, leaving the engine in the workshop.

When the complainant returned to the garage the following morning the engine had been stolen and all efforts made by him to find the engine did not go through.

On August 10, 2019, the complainant sent one of his apprentices to mend a car tyre at a vulcanizing shop. The complainant later received a call from his apprentice about the stolen engine from the workshop which was being cannibalised by a scrap dealer at Agona Wassa.

After the complainant  identified the engine block as being the Nissan Pick-up engine stolen from his garage the scrap dealer later ratted out Acheampong and they handed him over to the police with the exhibit.

 

2. Occultist arrested for allegedly killing his aunt.

The Sege police last Sunday arrested 24-year-old Isaiah Tetteh Sebbie at Goi, a suburb of Sege, for allegedly butchering his aunt for ‘ritual’ purposes.

The deceased, Madam Tornyasi Sebbie, aged 70, was said to be at loggerheads with the suspect before her untimely death.

Sege Police Commander DSP George Aboagye told the GNA that, about 6am on Sunday, 6th October 2019, Alex Sebbie and Otu Sebbie (children of the deceased) brought the woman who was then unconscious, to the police station and complained that they found her lying in a pool of blood in front of her shop.

He said, a medical form was quickly prepared for her to be sent to the Ada East District Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, there are rumours circulating that the suspect who is a community Animal Health Worker, slaughters animals indiscriminately to pacify his objects of worship.

Others also accused him of exhuming human dead bodies for occultic purposes.

 

3. Doctor, others charged with treason

Yesterday, Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, the Chief Executive Officer of the Citadel Hospital and his alleged accomplices were put before the Kaneshie District Court with an additional charge of treason.

Mac-Palm, Donyo Kafui, alias Ezor, Bright Alan Debra, were initially charged with conspiracy to possess explosives, arms and ammunitions as well as possession of explosives, arms and ammunitions.

However, they, together with Colonel Samuel Kojo Gameli, Geshon Akpa, Warrant Officer Esther, Lance Corporals Seidu Abubakar, Solomon Ali and Sylvester Akankpewu are now facing charges ranging from conspiracy to commit treason, treason, conspiracy to possess explosives, arms and ammunitions as well as possession of explosives, arms and ammunitions without lawful excuse.
