Dr Kwabena Bempah Tandoh Deputy Director of the Ghana Education Service says, parents facing challenges with the Computerized School Selection & Placement System are exaggerating the issues they are facing.
Despite the supposed exaggerations, he admitted that many candidates have still not been assigned schools. According to him, applicants who did not gain access to the schools they chose had to do with the number of limited spaces available as compared to the number of people who chose them.
Dr. Bempah Tandoh claims that most of the challenges were as a result of the actions of the parents and their wards. He indicated that, applicants who were given day schools hours away and those who received day schools instead of boarding schools chose a catchment area which affected them.
He iterated that the system had no hand in it.
What I will say is that sometimes a lot of these are sensationalisations, because every student has a catchment area out of which they choose. -Dr. Bempah Tandoh
Worried parents and guardians have called on the Ghana Education Service to intervene.
