As more details from the recent Jacob Blake case have emerged, the police officer who shot Jacob Blake in the back seven times has finally been identified as veteran Officer Rusten Sheskey. The horrific shooting which occurred on Sunday, August 23 is currently being investigated by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation. An initial account (and video evidence) of the sad incident points at Sheskey as the trigger man.According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), a number of Kenosha Police Department officers were dispatched to a residential location after a female caller reported that her boyfriend was around when he was not supposed to be.During the incident, the DOJ claims the dispatched police officers attempted to arrest Jacob. The taser used initially to try and stop him failed to work. After it failed, the DOJ says Jacob walked around his vehicle, opened the driver’s side door and leaned into the vehicle as Officer Sheskey held onto his shirt. Officer Sheskey then fired 7 shots into the back of Jacob Blake. The DOJ also said Jacob Blake had admitted to having a knife in his possession. Authorities recovered a knife from the driver’s side floorboard in Blake’s car with no other weapon found.
The shooting has left Jacob paralyzed from the waist down after a surgery and his family said he will need a miracle to walk again.
