An unfortunate accident on the Tano river has caused the water to become extremely poisonous.
The accident is reported to have occurred opposite the Ghana Water Company treatment plant at Techiman-Tanoso
The suddenly poisonous water resulted in the death of fish, crocodiles and other animals in the river. The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) situated in Offinso North revealed that the accident on the Tano river caused the waterbody to become highly poisonous. The toxicity of the river resulted in in the death of the crocodiles.
The report by NADMO indicates that, the acid in the batteries which fell into the river after an accident, have made their way into the water and made it highly hostile for the fish that inhabit the river.
The accident is said to have occurred opposite the Ghana Water Company treatment plant at Techiman-Tanoso.
The presence of the acid in the water makes all fish and other harmful for human consumption. The community has been asked to stay away from the river and its content.
