The COVID-19 Doom: How to survive the pandemic

Whether we like it or not, coronavirus (COVID-19) is here in the motherland and it is up to us to stay safe.

The President of the land together with the Ghana Health Service have put in place to curb the spread and keep us all safe but it is up to each one of us to be extra vigilant in all our endeavours.

We think these five (5) tips will help preventing yourself from the virus.

1. Don’t panic

If you are healthy, if you are younger and if you take good care of yourself with simple personal hygiene tips, you would be just fine. No need to panic about getting the virus that would push you to commit mistakes.

No matter your fears, don’t panic.

2. Obey the #OperationWashYourHands rule.

Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.

Make sure you wash your hands always

3. Avoid crowdy places

Even when you to go somewhere with people (work, parties, meetings), make sure you follow good respiratory hygiene. Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze then dispose of the used tissue immediately.

Why? Droplets spread virus. By following good respiratory hygiene you protect the people around you from viruses such as cold, flu and COVID-19.

Try as much as possible to avoid places that have too many people.

4. Own a sanitizer

One key item very crucial in these times is the hand sanitizer. We are bound to touch objects or a surface every now and then which may carry the viruses. It is very important you get in your bag or pocket for everywhere you go. Once you are done washing your hands, use your hand sanitizer.

The reason why we urge to use both is; when you wash your hands with soap and water, you kill 99.9% of bacteria and viruses on your hands. Now, when you apply the sanitizer after, it kills 99.9% of the 0.1% left after washing with soap and water.

Apply hand sanitizer after your washing your hands.

5. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth

Your hands may touch many surfaces and you can as well pick up viruses. Once your hands are contaminated, they can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can make you infected.

If you really want to survive this COVID-19 pandemic, then you have to take these steps serious and adhere to them.
