Tottenham Hotspurs agree deals for Bale and Reguilon

English Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspurs have agreed deals with Real Madrid for highly rated winger, Gareth Bale and left-back, Sergio Reguilon.

Spurs who have been on the market to beef up their squad this transfer window have already secured the services of Doherty from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg from Southampton and goal keeper Joe Hart on a free transfer.

Gareth Bale who has been out of favour at the Bernabeu was looking to leave the club during the previous season but his high wages which is £600,000 a week was a major obstacle for clubs to approach him and sign him.

Real Madrid who now want Bale off their high wage bill decided to pay half of his weekly wages if any club wants the Wales international with both Manchester United and Spurs all showing interest in the player.

After calls from Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy, Bale decided to return to White Hart Lane, his previous club before joining the Los Blancos in 2013.

Sergio Reguilon on the other hand, spent last season at fellow Spanish La Liga side, Sevilla and had a successful campaign as he helped the club win the Europa League after beating Inter Milan in the final.

The player was linked with a number of top sides after the season with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Inter Milan all keen to acquire his services. Talks with Manchester United and the player’s representatives proved successful as the player agreed personal terms with the Old Trafford side. United submitted a bid to Real Madrid to buy Reguilon only to be told that there will be a buy-back clause in the contract which stalled negotiations between the two clubs.

Jose Mourinho who saw his side fall to a defeat on opening day in the Premier League to Everton decided to pounce on the situation and “steal the deal” right under the noses of his former employers. Personal terms and bid accepted by Real Madrid who included a buy-back clause in the contract.

According to reports, both players have had their medicals in Spain and will travel to London and outdoored by Spurs tomorrow.
