United dealt blow as Dortmund want to keep Sancho

News coming in from German Bundesliga club, Borussia Dortmund claim that the club want to keep winger Jadon Sancho despite strong interest from Manchester United.

The England international who has been on Man United’s wish list from last year has been prolific for the Bundesliga side.

However, the club’s Sporting director, Michael Zorc, has said that the highly-rated winger is staying at the club and not going anywhere.

“Jadon Sancho will play with us next season,” he said. “The decision is final. I think that answers all the questions.

“Last summer we adjusted Jadon’s salary to match the development of his performances. So in context, we had already extended his contract until 2023 back then.”

The 20 year old was named in the list players travelling to Switzerland for pre-season as they prepare for the new Bundesliga season.

Numerous rumours from sports journalists across the world claimed earlier that Sancho has agreed personal terms with the Premier League club and it is now left for the two clubs to agree the fee.

Dortmund want €120 million (£108m/$142m) for their star player with United opting for less or a more flexible payment of the set fee for the services of the attacker.

With the German club setting their own transfer deadline date to August 10, it was clear and a statement of intent that if the two clubs were not able to come to an agreement for Sancho then it means he would not be allowed to leave.

Manchester United are in Germany now for the mini Europa League tournament as they face FC Copenhagen today in the last 8.
