The intervention of two public health officers, Rita Wurapa and Rose Ayivor resulted in a less stressful labour of a pregnant woman.
The seasoned nurses were on a monitoring trip to Dambai when they met the woman on a motorbike. in the middle of the road in Dambai in the Oti region.
The distressed woman was on the bike with her husband, the rider. They were en route to the health facility that would assist in delivering the baby.
Unfortunately, the couple had to stop on their way because the woman could no longer bear the pain.
The first time mother had to sit in the middle of the road as onlookers watched helplessly.
It was a great relief when the two health officers chanced on the incident.
The health officers drew closer to the woman in labour and called on other women to form a screen with their clothes around her.
Mother and baby were sent to the hospital where they are both doing well.
