Sad news as a young Nigerian fashion designer has allegedly committed suicide after being mercilessly accused of rape by a Twitter influencer. It seems Izu, the alleged rapist could not take the shame and numerous calls he received and decided to end it all by committing suicide even after he declared his innocence.
Nanichi Anese took to Twitter to use her position as a social media influencer to publish a list of alleged rapists which included the name of “Legend” Izu Madubueze and others.
As at the time this article was published, the hashtag #JusticeForIzu was the top trending on Twitter in Nigeria and Ghana. The hashtag is being used by many to express their dismay at the budding designers death and the treatment he faced at the hands of Nani.
Nani, accused Izu of the “non-physical sexual assault” of a person known to both of them. Nani, surprisingly refused to mention who it was exactly and claimed the person wanted to remain anonymous when Izu demanded the name of this mysterious accuser.
After several failed attempts to get Nani to retract her accusations, he allegedly committed suicide after leaving this note on Twitter: “Oh and if you’re reading this, I’m dead lol.”
Ironically, older chats from Izu’s phone allegedly shows that Nani had asked him out before but he declined.At the moment, Netizens are demanding justice for Izu.
